At the close of 2018, the health-technology industry (health-tech) was wrapping up an outstanding year, notably hitting record levels of funding for start-ups from venture capitals in the first quarter. While large technology companies worked to penetrate the market with entering the medical sector, the traditional health-care companies were taking efforts to modernize through partnerships with tech developers.
The top experts from across the health sector have found there to be five key themes in their predictions for the future of innovation in the industry this year. These include wearables products that track blood pressure; technological innovations for health plans, such as Medicare Advantage; tech giants like Amazon will enter into the Health Insurance industry; Pharma companies flex their buying muscles; funding will flow into tech for mental health.
